Ha! It was quite sufficient and I'm usually just happy to get any response, really. I teach for a living, so I'm quite used to blank stares and gaping mouths when I go off on one of my little tirades - it's good to know they're not wholly illogical XD
Let me just say though - I am often thoroughly disturbed when authors try to come up with "new" and "inventive" ways to torture Fai in his youth (every now and again someone does a good job of it, but it's few and far between); I always wonder if they take great pleasure in pulling the legs off of small woodland critters in their spare time... XD Your way of beating on Fai (if you will), even is realistic - and there are only so many identifiable (to your readers) circumstances you can stick him in before people stop relating to his pain and start going "Okay, that's just fucked beyond all reason; there's no hope for him (beyond Kurogane's magical healing cock)" Okay, that last bit was snark...but...really - I wouldn't worry about "originality" in his past... He's too young here, I think, to really go the full "Saw" on him, you know?
