I wonder.

All I feel is pain.

All I want is to cry.

Come and say your final goodbyes, they urge.

You’ll feel better.

I turn away.

They don’t understand.

I don’t want to say goodbye.

I want to see your smile.

I want to hear your laugh.

I want to smell the food that you cook.

I want to feel your cool skin against mine.

I want to taste the sugar on your lips as we kiss.

I want to go back.

Is this love?

Everything dies; nothing’s immortal.

I can only hope that even love has its funeral.
